Moroccan handcraft

Beautiful! The souks of Marrakech are only 24kms away, treat yourself, it's a delight of colors, smells, sounds, and the discovery of an extraordinary craft. Often, craftsmen make their objects in the back of the shop with an ancestral know-how.

Don't hesitate to ask about prices beforehand to be able to negotiate, haggling is a national sport, practice it with a smile!

You will also discover other artisan workshops in Tamesloht on the road between Tagadert Lodge and Marrakech.

It is in these stalls that we bought all the pottery, furniture, basketry, decorations, that you will find at Tagadert Lodge, we make work the local craftsmen who are talented and so nice!

A walk in the Atlas mountains

Tagadert Lodge is located in the foothills of the High Atlas, from the terrace you can see Mount Toubkal which rises to 4167 meters.

This is why winter can be cold in the Marrakech area and we have many indoor and outdoor fireplaces at Tagadert Lodge.

Hiking departures are from the town of Imlil.

Whatever your level, you will easily find a certified guide to accompany you and make you discover the splendours of the mountainous landscapes in Morocco.

For your safety, a Moroccan government-certified guide is mandatory, even for a short walk.

Oumnas Cashbah

The Kasbah of Oumnas is a magnificent 19th century fortified residence. Visible from the terraces of Tagadert Lodge, it is also accessible on foot for a pleasant 2kms walk through the olive groves of Tagadert-El-Kadi.

The Kasbah can be visited with Idriss, the charming owner of the place who will be happy to tell you anecdotes because the Kasbah is a place where Holywood movies are shot, among others Marrakech Express (part of our DVD collection), The Last Temptation of Christ, it is also where Johnny Depp shot "wainting for the Barbarians" in October 2018.

Water activities

Only 8kms south of Tagadert Lodge, LallaTakerkoust Lake is formed by an impressive dam below which is a village where some artists are exhibiting. The blue-green colour of the water and the surrounding landscapes make it a very photogenic and pleasant place.

In recent years, many water sports activities have been developed here, such as jet-skiing, which allow you to spend a pleasant and sporty day here. It is the meeting point of the marrakchis in summer.

Jarjeer Mules and donkeys refugee

2 km from Tagadert Lodge, Jarjeer Mule and Donkey Refugee is a refuge for mules and donkeys created by Susan and Charles, a charming British couple.

They are passionate about rescuing many animals each year to welcome them in their structure and offer them a peaceful retreat. You can sponsor a donkey or make a donation to help their work.

By appointment, the refuge can be visited, the children (and the older ones!) love it!

All around Tagadert Lodge, there are many and varied activities. By choosing to stay at Tagadert Lodge, you will have a lot to do in a small area since our guest house is in the heart of a territory south of Marakech which is undergoing a remarkable expansion. Water park, zip lines, horse or camel riding, hiking, the attractions are numerous.

You will also choose to stay at Tagadert Lodge to taste its calm, its authenticity and enjoy the discovery of a simple and rural life, enjoying the quietness of the house, and reveling in the excellent cuisine served there (meals are extra and on reservation).
